THE ROOMS
Flore House has grown and changed with the centuries; creating a maze of rooms, corridors, cellars, and galleries, each with an individual and dramatic character of its own.
The hunting heritage of the house is reflected in the décor of the Great Hall with the trophies of hunts long since run lining the walls and a substantial chandelier salvaged from a derelict French Chateau adding further dramatic flair.
West facing to ‘preserve your flawless Jane Austen complexion’, the morning room is ideal for small, personal gatherings. Large windows allow light to flood the room and create a fresh and vibrant place to talk over coffee.
Able to host 10 guests, the dining hall is a room for important moments, whether that’s a vital board meeting or the announcement of an engagement. Easy access to the terrace through French doors allows light and the evening breeze to flow in and guests to look out over the parkland.
“The English Game”, or Billiards dates from around 1800, and since then has been a splendid way to pass a hot summers afternoon or cold winters eve. Flore House’s Billiards Room is more a more casual affair than many of the other areas of the house and perfectly suites those more informal occasions.
A place of deep thinking and quiet contemplation the library is the perfect venue for brainstorming your next venture or simply your next adventure.
The Ha-Ha, a hidden wall at the edge of the gardens, was painstakingly restored to allow uninterrupted views of the surrounding parkland and woodland. Stretching up to it and surrounding the house are a number of ornately designed gardens, including well laid out flower beds, an alpine garden and a bog garden.
